Police have arrested two people in connection with the death of a Dalit youth who was found dead a day earlier in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh. They are accused of abetment to suicide.
The name of the deceased youth is being described as Dharmapala Diwakar. Diwakar’s family members said that he had plucked the mango tree leaves of the accused.
Diwakar was severely beaten by the accused, after which he committed suicide.
Dead body sent for post mortem
SHO Sher Singh Rajput of Malvan police station said that Diwakar allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the village of Asta on Tuesday evening. His body has been sent for postmortem.
He told the family of the deceased young man that during the day the young man had gone to the forest to graze his goats and was beaten by some people when he broke a few leaves in the mango orchard, which caused him to commit suicide by becoming angry.
Two people arrested, investigation is going on- SP
Indian Express According to Fatehpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Satpal said that an FIR has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s family. Two people have been arrested and the case is under investigation.
The arrested persons are said to be 27-year-old Noor Mohammad and 22-year-old Salman. Police are now conducting raids to search for Noor’s brother Aashiq Ali.
Ali’s name is included in the FIR as the third accused.
The father of the deceased complained to the police
The complaint made by Ramapati Diwakar, the father of the deceased youth, said that his son was feeding his goats by plucking leaves from a mango tree on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the accused reached the spot and started fighting with his son. After this the matter increased considerably.
However, later some people of the village explained the two sides and calmed the case.
SC / ST Act also applied against the accused
After reaching home a little later, Dharmapala Diwakar hanged himself in the store room. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot.
After this, on behalf of family members, police filed a complaint against Noor Mohammad, Salman and Aashiq.
Police have registered a case under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the three accused. Also, sections of SC / ST Act have also been added against all three.
